Why vertical AI is where fintech value is moving
Christian Ringpfiel
During my externship at Mangusta Capital, the clearest pattern was that general-purpose AI models are quickly becoming a commodity, while the durable businesses sit one layer up. Companies that own a single financial workflow, like accounts receivable, advisor prospecting or insurance underwriting, collect proprietary data and plug directly into the systems their customers already use.
That mirrors what happened in software: infrastructure got cheaper, and the winners were the vertical companies built on top of it. For wealth management, it suggests the advisors who benefit most from AI will be the ones whose tools are built for their exact workflow, not generic chat assistants.
